YWAM Château Design System v1.0 April 2026

A house with weight.

The visual reference for everything we make — palette, type, components, and the language of the chateau. Warm but not casual. Rooted but not closed.

What the system protectsSix commitments named in the workshop · every design decision answers to these

01 · Rootedness

Old wood, slow time.

The brand reaches back to humanist letterforms, masonry, foliage, iron. The chateau itself is built slowly — the system should feel built, not generated.

02 · Bilingual, equal weight

Two tongues, one room.

Korean is never a translation footnote. It sits beside English at the same size and the same care. Each school's distinct voice was lost in year one when this slipped — it is the first rule the templates hold.

03 · Walking alongside

Beside, not above.

The voice never directs from above. It walks beside the reader — plain sentences, honest about pace and cost. Aspirational gradients and stock heroics aren't our register.

04 · Unperformed

Plain light, real faces.

Pure documentary isn't enough — neither is gloss. We direct with restraint: available light, candid moments, declarative copy. Not afraid to show work in progress.

05 · Learnable

Any hand can hold it.

The brand cannot depend on one technical person. Templates, tokens, and rules are written so a new staff member or student can carry it forward — in Canva, in print, on the website.

06 · One Korea, named

The gateway, said plainly.

One Korea isn't a campaign — it is the lens. Every divided place is read through it. The system uses the words concretely: One Korea, North Korea, reconciliation, reunification. Plain nouns, no euphemism.

Section 02

Voice & tone.

Distilled from Brand Workshop 2 — the synthesized brand sentence, the Golden Circle, the four movements every project lives inside, and the principles that govern how we write.

The north starOne sentence — precise enough to make decisions from, human enough to be spoken aloud

Brand sentence · synthesized
YWAM Château exists for young people to encounter God's presence, recover their true purpose, and become a multicultural family that carries His heart for reconciliation — in One Korea, and in every divided place.

Workshop 2 · 22 April 2026 Distilled from 11 contributions · KO + EN Use as the test, not the tagline

The four movementsEncounter → restoration → family → reconciliation · every project lives inside this arc

I · Encounter

Presence, first.

Before strategy or program, an encounter with God's presence. The interior experience that makes everything else real rather than programmatic.

II · Restoration

Purpose, recovered.

For those who lost their motivation for life — direction returns. Hope and habits that re-form a productive, God-shaped life.

III · Family

Multicultural, by table.

Not an audience but a household — Korean and international, staff and student, living together honestly. Not pretending. Not treating mistakes as failures.

IV · Reconciliation

One Korea — and every divided place.

The outward direction. One Korea is named concretely because it is irreplaceable. "Every divided place" keeps the theological scope: the vision is not only for a peninsula.

The Golden CircleWhy → How → What · communication from the inside out

WhyThe belief

God's heart is for every divided and broken place.

And young people, when rooted in who they are and who God is, become the ones who carry that heart into the world. One Korea is the gateway — the boundary where inside and outside meet, the entrance into a closed world and the exit through which reconciliation flows out.

  • Young people as God's primary agents — not a demographic, but the called.
  • Reconciliation between God and people, between divided nations, between a person and their identity.
  • A refuge of transformation — not mere acceptance, but revelation that restores.
  • Calling, not lifestyle — for Korean youth, the burden for the North is spiritual inheritance.
HowThe approach

Community that feels like family. Prayer before action.

Schools that form identity and expand vision. Honest, vulnerable relationships. Creative and strategic pioneering. A consistent posture of walking alongside people — not directing them from above.

  • Community as method — living together honestly, not pretending.
  • Prayer and worship as navigation — direction discerned before any action.
  • Creativity, initiative, adventurous posture — innovation as expression of calling.
  • Testimony and personal experience — transformation begins in lived story.
  • Walking alongside — accompanying people in their growth and calling.
WhatThe offer

Schools, vision nights, outreach, community life.

Programs and events through which the Why and How become tangible — a pioneering base that models how creative, strategic ministry can be built from the ground up.

  • OKDTS · One Korea Discipleship Training School — six months, EN + KO.
  • DBS · Discipleship Bible School — twelve weeks of intensive Bible.
  • SPL · School of Pioneering Leadership — for those called to pioneer.
  • One Korea Vision Night / Concert — testimony, worship, invitation.
  • Outreach to China, Europe, SE Asia, Latin America · NK border ministry.
  • Short seminars, business + creative gatherings, food ministry, community life.

How we soundEight principles for writing — short, plain, theologically grounded, bilingual

01 · Plainspoken

Short sentences. Real nouns.

The audit named what was missing, not what was almost-there. We write the same way: name the thing. Avoid corporate softness, devotional padding, or marketing superlatives.

Write

Six pastors. Six escapes. One Korea — a journey home.

Don't write

Embark on a transformative journey of discovery and impact.

02 · Bilingual without footnotes

Korean stands beside, not below.

Korean copy is set in the same scale, weight, and care as English. It is not a literal translation in italics — it carries its own voice. Each line is set so a Korean and an English reader meet the same sentence.

Write

A house with weight.

Don't write

A house with weight (무게가 있는 집)

03 · Beside, not above

We walk with — we don't direct from.

The reader is met as a peer, not a project. We say "we" when we mean it. We don't promise transformation; we make room for it. Imperative voice is reserved for invitations, not instructions.

Write

We make room for what God might do. Come and see.

Don't write

Discover the breakthrough that will change your life forever.

04 · Honest about cost

Six months. Real outreach. Real tuition.

Length, language requirement, location, money — named clearly and early. The brand respects the reader by not hiding the parts that ask something of them.

Write

Six months · Colorado lecture phase · field outreach · ages 18–30.

Don't write

An unforgettable season of growth, in a beautiful setting.

05 · Theology, plainly

Use the words we mean.

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, prayer, reconciliation, repentance, calling. Don't substitute "spirituality" or "energy" for theological nouns. We are a missionary base — language carries the work.

Write

A six-month discipleship around God's heart for One Korea.

Don't write

A transformative spiritual experience focused on reconciliation energies.

06 · One Korea, named

Say the place, not the metaphor.

One Korea, North Korea, the peninsula, reunification, reconciliation. Concrete nouns. Don't soften with abstraction ("a certain region"), don't dramatize ("the forbidden land"). The vision is also for every divided place — write that scope explicitly.

Write

North Korea, when it opens. Until then — the border.

Don't write

A closed nation in the East, awaiting a great awakening.

07 · Testimony over claim

One person says it.

Vision Night and Concert taught us this: transformation is communicated through individual testimony, not aggregate claim. Where we can, attribute. Where we can't, write as witness, not as marketer.

Write

"The place spoke me into a language." — Eun-ji, OKDTS '24

"이 자리가 나를 한 언어 안으로 데려갔다." — 은지, OKDTS '24

Don't write

Hundreds of lives changed. Thousands of stories. Endless impact.

08 · Pioneer, in progress

Show the building, not just the building.

The base is pioneering — schools are being formed, the chateau is being made livable. We don't pretend it's finished. Honesty about the in-progress is part of the invitation: come and help build.

YC exists to provide an intentional place for young people to take a pause from their life routines and come focused on learning who God is and who they are.
— JI · Why · Workshop 2
Not merely a refuge that tolerates everything, but a refuge where people are restored and transformed through revelation and truth.

— Yaeju Kim · Why · Workshop 2
Honest and clear communication. Not being afraid to be vulnerable. Not treating mistakes as failures.

— Yaeju Kim · How · Workshop 2
So that in pioneering, not only the physical but also the conceptual dimensions of vision can be expanded together within God.
